Quartz-Pyrite-Pyroxene-Actinolite Rock, Coire Loch Kander (NO192 807)

The above photo in ppl shows a greenish coloured pleochroic mineral which is probably tremolite or ferroactinolite. The opaque mineral is probably pyrite. The rock sample, a schist,  is supposed to contain armenite and hyalophane (both aluminosilicates of barium). They are, however, difficult to distinguish optically since they have low birefringence and their refractive indices are similar to quartz. The map indicates the locality where the rocks belong to the Argyll Group, Middle Dalradian.
